Notes: Fr. Vance Thorne was a priest of the Society of the Divine Word. Multiple survivors have come forward alleging child sexual abuse by Fr. Vance Thorne in the 1970s and the 1980s. Most of the alleged abuse occurred at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jackson, Mississippi during 1980 to 1986. Multiple criminal indictments and civil lawsuits have been filed against Fr. Thorne, and he was arrested in 1986. Fr. Thorne reportedly remained a member of the Divine Word Missionaries after his arrest and was placed on administrative leave in 1987. Fr. Thorne was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors. His whereabouts and whether he had access to children from 1960 until his death in 2004 are unknown.
