Fr. Ruben Garcia

Fr. Ruben Garcia

Ordination: 1972

Notes: Fr. Ruben Garcia worked at locations in Idaho, New Mexico, and California. According to the Diocese of San Bernardino, Fr. Garcia worked at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Chino from 1986 to 1987. He has been accused of sexually abusing boys in Boise, Idaho and Las Vegas, New Mexico. According to the Diocese of San Bernardino, as of 1986 the Diocese was aware of allegations of abuse which were alleged to have occurred in 1981. The Diocese, however, did not report the allegations to law enforcement until 2006. At some point, Fr. Garcia was reportedly incardinated into the Archdiocese of Tijuana in Mexico. He left the Diocese of San Bernardino in February 1987. It was later revealed that Bishop Tod D. Brown of the Diocese of Boise wrote a letter of recommendation to the Archdiocese of Tijuana on behalf of Fr. Garcia, even though Bishop Brown was aware of Fr. Garcia’s history of sexual abuse. Fr. Garcia was included in the Diocese of San Bernardino’s list of clergy credibly accused of child sexual abuse. He was also included in the Archdiocese of Santa Fe’s list of clerics accused of sexual abuse of children. Fr. Garcia’s current whereabouts, status as a priest, and whether he has access to children are unknown.
