Fr. Franz Robier

Fr. Franz Robier

Ordination: 1936

Notes: Fr. Franz Robier was an Austrian priest who moved to America in approximately 1955. Fr. Robier underwent treatment at Via Coeli Monastery in Jemez Springs, New Mexico, an institution known for treating clergy accused of child sexual abuse. He worked at various parishes throughout Southern California for nearly three decades. In 2003, he was accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl while at the St. Anthony Parish in San Bernardino. Following the first accusation, a lawsuit was filed on behalf of five women claiming the Diocese of San Diego covered up sexual abuse perpetrated by Fr. Robier. Fr. Robier was included in the Diocese of San Diego’s list of priests where the Diocese has received a credible allegation involving sexual abuse of a minor. Fr. Robier’s whereabouts and whether he had access to children from 1983 until his death in 1994 are unknown.
