Notes: In a 2011 civil lawsuit, Fr. Flickinger was accused of sexually abusing a young boy at St. Paul Catholic Parish and School in San Francisco, California. According to the lawsuit, Fr. Flickinger had a history of alleged child sexual abuse stretching back 40 years, and three dioceses—Fresno, San Jose, and San Francisco—were supposedly aware of Fr. Flickinger’s misconduct but failed to take action. Two additional lawsuits related to child sexual abuse have named Fr. Flickinger. All three cases were settled in 2013. The Diocese of San Jose included Fr. Flickinger on their list of “Clergy with Credible Allegations of Sexual Abuse of Children” where it is reported that he engaged in “sexual misconduct with children at St. Frances Cabrini in San Jose, California and at Sacred Heart, in Saratoga, California in the 1990s and early 2000s.” The list also states that the Diocese of San Jose received reports of child sexual abuse by Fr. Flickinger in 2002, 2005, and 2006.

 Fr. Flickinger is named on the Diocese of Santa Rosa’s “Diocese Responds to the Request for Transparency.” In this document, Fr. Flickinger is designated as one of “the names of accused priests who had varying degrees of connection with the Diocese of Santa Rosa and who had claims brought against them in other places.” Fr. Flickinger is retired and, as of 2018, is believed to be residing in the Diocese of Fresno. Fr. Flickinger’s current whereabouts, status as a priest, and whether he has access to children are unknown.
