Msgr. Matthew J. Thompson

Msgr. Matthew J. Thompson

Ordination: 1928

Notes: Msgr. Matthew J. Thompson worked in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and Diocese of San Diego. At least two survivors have alleged that Msgr. Thompson sexually abused them as children, and claims against Msgr. Thompson were included in the Diocese of San Diego’s 2007 settlement with survivors of child sexual abuse. After his retirement in 1975 and death in 1976, the City of Corona honored Msgr. Thompson by naming a street after him. Two years after the 2007 settlement, the City of Corona changed the name of the street. Msgr. Thompson was included in the Diocese of San Diego’s list of priests where the Diocese has received a credible allegation involving sexual abuse of a minor.
