Notes: At least 13 survivors have alleged child sexual abuse by Fr. Richard Allen Henry between approximately 1982 and 1992 while he worked at Holy Redeemer in Montrose and Our Lady of the Rosary in Paramount. The Archdiocese, including Archbishop Roger Mahony, was aware of Henry’s unsettling behavior around young boys as early as 1988. In October 1988, Henry was ordered in a letter from a superior, then-Monsignor Thomas Curry, to “not be alone with minors.” Fr. Henry was removed from ministry in 1991 and pleaded guilty to four counts of child sexual abuse. He was sent to St. Luke Institute and in 1993 Fr. Henry was sentenced to eight years in prison. He was released on parole in 1996. Fr. Henry was accused of child sexual abuse in a 2003 civil lawsuit. Fr. Henry was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors. He was believed to be living in Hillsboro, Oregon in approximately 2003. Fr. Henry’s current status as a priest, his whereabouts, and whether he has access to children are unknown.
