Notes: Fr. John Patrick Feeney, a priest of the Diocese of Green Bay, stands accused of sexually abusing at least a dozen children during his career as a priest. In 1978, the parents of two young boys reported to the Diocese of Green Bay that Fr. Feeney had molested their sons and the diocese told them it would be taken care of. In 1979, two mothers complained to law enforcement about Fr. Feeney, but were persuaded by the prosecutor not to pursue charges. In 1983, Bishop Wycislo told Fr. Feeney that unless he found a job in another diocese, he would face going to prison or treatment. Fr. Feeney then began working in the Diocese of RenoLas Vegas and the Diocese of San Diego. In May 2012, two survivors tried their case against the Diocese of Green Bay and the Diocese was found liable for concealing Fr. Feeney’s history of child sexual abuse. The Diocese challenged the ruling and a new trial was granted. The case ultimately settled. Later, in October 2012, another civil trial was held in Las Vegas, NV where the jury also found in favor of the sexual abuse survivor. Again the Church challenged the verdict and it was reversed on jurisdictional grounds in 2015 by the Nevada Supreme Court. Fr. Feeney’s name and information pertaining to his time spent in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles was released pursuant to a settlement agreement in 2013.
