Notes: Fr. John Salazar-Jimenez was a member of the Piarist religious order. Fr. Salazar-Jimenez has been accused by at least six people of child sexual abuse. Fr. Salazar-Jimenez has been named in eight civil lawsuits alleging child sex abuse occurring approximately between the years of 1981 and 1985 at Santa Teresita in Los Angeles; St. Lucy in Los Angeles; St. Bernard High School in Playa Del Rey; and St. Anthony of Padua in Gardena. In 1986 a felony complaint was filed against Fr. Salazar-Jimenez for lewd acts upon a child. The information filed against him alleged that he sexually abused four minors. Later in 1986, Fr. Salazar-Jimenez was admitted to Westwood Hospital for therapeutic treatment. In 1987, Fr. Salazar-Jimenez pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six years in prison; he served four years and was released in May 1990. After prison, Fr. Salazar-Jimenez was sent to Servants of the Paraclete, an institution known for treating priests accused of child sexual abuse. In 2002, two criminal charges were brought against Fr. Salazar-Jimenez, but they were dropped in 2003. Later in 2003, Fr. Salazar-Jimenez was charged with sexually assaulting an 18-year-old former parishioner while he was unconscious. In 2005, Fr. Salazar-Jimenez was convicted of the sexual assault charge from 2003 and was sentenced to life in prison. In 2005, Fr. Salazar-Jimenez was laicized. In 2011 his conviction was overturned on appeal and he accepted a plea deal that released him from prison in 2013. In 2013, he was again charged with felony indecency with a child. In December 2013 he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to ten years in prison. He is currently in prison in Angleton, TX. Fr. Salazar-Jimenez was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors.
